Victor hasn’t always been in telecom. In fact, before he took a year-long contract with Verigent, he’d dabbled in everything from demolition to plumbing to electrical work. Today, he travels all over the northeast replacing backup batteries in server rooms and, as he puts it, “Meets a lot of beautiful people!”
Verigent was first introduced to Victor in August 2018 as a referral from another Verigent employee. Says Victor, “It was luck! I saw an opportunity and set up my resume and went for it.” He was a natural fit and has even said his past experience with electrical work meant he got up to speed very quickly. Although Victor mostly performs scheduled battery replacements, he also does service calls as they come up. “Eventually, I’d love to expand my knowledge about telecommunications in general.”
Originally from Long Island, Victor says he loves that his job takes him on day trips to Connecticut, New Jersey, and other parts of New York. “I couldn’t work in an office,” he explains. “I tried, but I couldn’t sit there day to day and look at the same four walls. Now I get to go out and breathe in fresh air and see beautiful sights.”
What does Victor think about his experience with Verigent thus far? “The people who I have spoken to are extremely friendly and very kind,” he explains. “What I like is the fact that this job has given me the opportunity to work on my communications skills and grow in a lot of ways.”
