It’s hard to believe now, but Will M. graduated from East Carolina University just last summer. He spotted an opening in Verigent’s recruiting department on a university job board and within a day was scheduled for a phone interview. The rest, as they say, is history. “I was hired as a Recruiter,” says Will. “I’ve been working really hard over the past year securing as many hires as possible and actually, just yesterday I was officially promoted to Senior Recruiter!”
Turns out, Will has exactly what it takes to be a successful recruiter. “One of my colleagues on the account management side will give me a job to fill,” Will explains. “I’ll search the database to see if I have a person that is interested and available in the position. I also find that networking with other candidates and employees that I have placed on assignments is a great tool as well. This is a small industry. Once I’ve got the right employee in place, I continue to keep in touch with them during their assignment to make sure things are going well. Our payroll department is great at keeping in touch with our employees too. We have a great team here that is always willing to help.” Was it Will’s Economics degree that prepared him for recruiting? Not exactly. In fact, he credits a summer internship in the sales department of a minor-league baseball team in Missouri with honing his lead-generation skills.
Growing up in Chapel Hill, NC, Will always knew he wanted to stay in the Carolinas. Says Will, “I love living in Charlotte. It’s been a great experience so far.” He’s pretty active, so most weekends you can find him at a festival, concert, or maybe one of the city’s craft breweries. “I love being outside the house,” says Will. “I’m a passionate sports fan so Charlotte’s been a really fun city to live in!”
And what about his experience as a new grad at Verigent? “I think the culture here is amazing,” says Will. “When I started here I was blown away at how easy it is to get along with everyone here and how much fun it was to work here. It’s a great atmosphere and everyone really supports each other.” Where does Will see himself next? “I’m looking to get into sales on the client side,” he explains. “Every Tuesday morning we attend an internal sales training program where we learn more about both the staffing and the telecom business.” He goes on, “We’re a growing company so there are a lot of opportunities available.”
